Maybe… maybe not!
The National Association of Realtors® tells us there’s a 68% chance a system or appliance will malfunction upon ownership changes. Wow!
One of our very own agents, Kristen Beahm, experienced this when she bought her first home. Her HVAC units needed a decent amount of work less than TWO MONTHS after she closed on her first home, despite receiving a clean bill of health during inspections. Unfortunately, she didn’t have a home warranty at the time and having one could have saved her a few thousand dollars!
So, what is a home warranty?
A home warranty is essentially a contract covering repairs and replacements on systems and appliances in your home, usually for a period of one year. Of course, there are some stipulations on what’s covered and what’s not, but it can be a great tool for many buyers – especially first time buyers, or anyone without large cash reserves! Home warranties help to hedge the expense of repairs on your home’s major systems (think HVAC, water heater, dishwasher, etc.). And the best part: if the warranty company can’t repair it, they’ll often replace it for just the price of the service call!
Who should I call?
At Worth Clark Realty, we partner with our friends at Choice Home Warranty. They will cover your homes’ systems regardless of age. Even EXISTING homeowners can purchase a home warranty to hedge their repair expenses! Psst, work with us & we can get you a special rate! 💰
How long is a home warranty good for?
Warranties are typically purchased in one year increments and can be renewed annually.
So, is a home warranty a good option for me?
At the end of the day, each homeowner gets to decide whether or not they would like to obtain a home warranty. While there are many perks of having one, it’s important to fully understand the coverage and terms of the warranty you choose. Do your research and send us your questions anytime!
